The Montessori Curriculum
What is Montessori Anyway?
The Montessori approach prepares children for real-world experiences. The focus is not on how to memorize, recite, or even how to solve a problem, but instead how to think through, understand, and ultimately invent new questions, for tasks yet to be determined. We believe that Montessori was the only system of education adequately prepared to address the unique challenges of the twenty-first century.
Hands-on Learning Experiences
Young children take in a tremendous amount of information from their environment with what Maria Montessori called "the absorbent mind." Our program at JMS provides enriching hands-on learning experiences with specially formulated Montessori materials for:
Mathematics | Languages | Sensorial Exploration | Practical Life | Art | Science | Geography
What is AMI?
The Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) was established by Maria Montessori in 1929 to protect the integrity of her work and to support high standards for both teacher training and schools. Today, AMI continues to uphold Maria Montessori’s vision while collaborating with contemporary research in neuroscience and child development.
